Board Meeting Minutes - August 19, 2021

Present:

  • Bridget Hazelbaker (Richmond Community Schools)
  • Lynn Knight, Secretary (Community Member)
  • Karen Seal (Friends Fellowship Community)
  • Tim Love (Reid Health)
  • Gillis King (3 Rivers)
  • Richard Peterson (Porter Advertising, LLC)
  • Dakota Collins (Earlham College)
  • Jane Holman (Executive Director, WayNet.org, Ex-Officio)

Absent:

  • Jenie Lahmann, President (Morrisson-Reeves Library, InSites Web Design)

Call to Order:

Vice-President Tim Love called the meeting to order at 12:02 p.m.

Jane introduced new board member Karen Seal, Director of Marketing and Communications at Friends fellowship. Jane and Karen met Monday to go over overview of Waynet and role of Board member.

Tim Love called for a motion to approve Karen as our newest board member. Bridget Hazelbaker motioned, Seconded by: Richard Peterson, approved by the Board.

Each member then introduced themselves to Karen sharing some information about themselves.

Old Business

Reviewed Minutes from the last meeting: May 20, 2021

Call for motion to approve by: Bridget Hazelbaker. Seconded by: Gillis King and approved by Board.

New Business:

Balance Sheet Review

Reviewed Balance Sheet. Jane shared explanations of the May, June and July balance sheet.

Call for motion to approve by: Dakota Collins, Seconded by: Bridget Hazelbaker and approved by Board.

Cashflow Projection

Jane shared that numbers are current up to July. August to December are projected numbers.

Director's Report

For May, June and July:

  • We have not gained or lost any memberships during the summer months.
  • Jennie is now acting Wayne County Connections Show producer
  • Jane reported the Wayne County Connections page is not getting many views
  • Social Media posts for Band Day had favorable views.
  • Jane shared a copy of her timecard noting time spent.

Updates Since Last Meeting:

  • Discussed Issues and Projects for June, July and August
  • Jane confirmed that she is working 2 days a week, beginning September.
  • More events are now on the calendar lately.
  • Wayne County Tourism wanting to use some of our photo's. Jane will look into photo credit for photo's that others use and charge Tourism $50
  • Jane reported most of her office hours are now in the city building and that she came back in June.
  • Jane reported that Tim Love donated a computer for office use (last year).
  • Jane reported she had a sales call with Friends Fellowship
  • Jane reported she had to used sick time a few weeks ago.
  • Jane shared that it took a day and half with state to straighten out tax issues.
  • Jane now has 64.5 hours vacation time.

Jane reminded us that the annual meeting is September for the election of officers:

With no further business to discuss, meeting was adjourned at 12:34 p.m. Call for motion to approve by Dakota Collins, seconded by Richard Peterson and approved by the board.

Richmond was long known as "The Rose City" due to being home to Hills' Roses. Founder, E. G. Hill, was a gifted rose hybridizer, and introduced countless roses to the world. Hills' was once known as the largest grower of roses under glass. Hill Floral Products stopped growing roses in 1995.
