Executive Director's Report for July 20, 2006

Membership Changes/Additional Fees:

  • ($ 60) Added Wayne County Vision as a Not-for-Profit Member
  • ($300) Added Radon Technology Services, LLC as a Business Member
  • ($300) Added Porter Advertising, LLC as a Business Member
  • ($300) Added Stults Family Dentistry as a Business Member
  • ($ 60) Added Cosmic Cleaners as a Basic Member
  • ($ 60) Added Huffine Design, Inc. as a Basic Member
  • ($ 60) Added The Richmond News Review Podcast as a Basic Member
  • ($ 60) Added Rihm, Inc. as a Basic Member
  • Increase of $1,200 income per year, assuming all renew.

Advertising/Marketing/Community Relations

  • Send postcard "A" to database of potential members on May 25, 2006
  • Distributed postcards at Morrisson-Reeves Library and the City Building.
  • Created an ad for the Bicentennial Booklet - Will be distributed in August.
  • Displayed banner at entrance to Wayne County 4-H Fair.
  • Mailed Marketing letter, membership application and 2 copies of postcard "B" to potential members on June 26, 2006.
    • MRL printed and folded letter and application for a minimal fee.
  • Talked to the Centerville Kiwanis Club on 6/27/2006.
  • Distributed post cards in Fountain City, Williamsburg, Economy, Hagerstown and Cambridge City on July 7, 2006.

Issues & Projects for May/June/July

  • Order additional letterhead and envelopes.  Received 2 extra boxes of envelopes due to printer's error.
  • Work with John Zetzel of Gillman & Zetzel to answer questions regarding move to 501(C)(3).
  • Work with board members to get "informal written consent" signed.  Anomoly discovered in Articles of Incorporation that will require notice and approval by the full membership board.
    • Gillman & Zetzel offer to split additional fee necessitated by waiting to file after July 1 ($200 of $400 additional)
  • Computer maintenance:
    • $ 22.94 - Research and purchase PC-Cillin anti-virus software for new computer.
  • Website Maintenance:  
    • Received a deluge of spam postings to Talk of the Town on during week of 7/16.  Cleaned up board and set so that anonymous posting go into a queue prior to posting.  Will check for software updates, but may have to remove ability to post anonymously.
    • Review and update page links & calendar events, as necessary. Take photos.

These figures were created by the AWStats program offered online by our web host. 

Monthly figures are now being posted on the Top Twenty page. Due to an anomaly in usage of the back end of the Talk of the Town program, our usage spiked in March and has slowly dropped off since then.  Current average is 56,504  user sessions per month.  Web page views (hits) are averaging 137,522.   Users popped up 86% in March and then dropped in April, May and June - finally settling in at 42,480 in June.  Page views increased by 54% in March then decreased in April, May and June to 113,566

2nd Quarter 2006 - Quarterly figures for user sessions decreased by 10% over 1st Quarter but are up 42% from the 2nd Quarter in 2005..  Page views increased by 14%. User sessions increased by 59% over the same time period last year. 

2005 Yearly Figures show a 14% increase to 463,839 users requesting 1,419,408 pages as compared to 407,300 users requesting 1,157,890 pages in 2004.  This is a 14% increase in users and a 23% increase in page views over 2004
