David Worth Dennis Middle School

This school was named for David Worth Dennis, an educator.  He was innovative and influential, and was one of the first to advocate "modern" laboratory methods in both Chemistry and Biology. Earlham, where he was a professor, had one of the earliest laboratories in which each student had access to a microscope. As a tribute to his outstanding career, the first Junior High School in the city was named the David Worth Dennis Junior High School and dedicated in 1922. 1

David Worth Dennis' grandson, David W. Dennis, was a lawyer and a politician, serving Wayne County in Washington from 1969-1975.
