Inaugural Starr-Gennett Walk of Fame

The inaugural Starr-Gennett Walk of Fame dedication took place on Saturday, September 8, 2007 in the Whitewater Gorge Park in Richmond, Indiana.  Eleven initial Gennett recording artists were recognized for their contributions to music around the world.  Hoagy Carmichael's son, Randy, joined 55 Gennett decedents, Miss Indiana, Congressman Mike Pence and the entire community to celebrate the wonderful musical history that took place in the Whitewater Gorge.

The Gennett Walk of Fame is located along South 1st Street in Richmond, Indiana at the site of the Starr Piano Company.  Three-dimensional, cast bronze and colored tile mosaic emblems in the form of 78 rpm phonograph records, featuring the classic Gennett label design and an artistic mosaic rendering of the represented musician are embedded in the Whitewater Gorge Trail, which connects to the longer Cardinal Greenway Trail.
