Executive Director's Report for March 16, 2006

Membership Changes/Additional Fees:

  • Added Elks Lodge and Country Club as a Basic member.
  • Added Tendertime Daycare as a Business member.
  • Added Whitewater Acupuncture as a Basic member.

Advertising/Marketing/Community Relations

  • Ad placed in the Chamber insert of the Palladium-Item on January 24th.
  • Link to WayNet placed on Morrisson-Reeves Library's home page.
  • Participated in Community Information Systems meeting set up by Wayne County Foundation
  • Met with Dennis Andrews of the Richmond-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce to discuss Calendaring options.
  • Had lunch with John Dalton, Robin Henry & Kim Poinsett to discuss possible partnering opportunities for WCTV & WayNet.org.

Issues & Projects for January/February/March

  • Web site locked up.  Did a complete re-install on January 20th.  (Thanks, Randy!)
  • Do to numerous & continuous problems with crashes on former Windows 98 system, I researched and purchased a new computer system for WayNet.  Expenses were as follows:
    • $ 35.00 - Sam's Club Membership
    • $949.77 - HP System with 250 Gig HD & 1 G RAM, 19" flat screen monitor
    • $ 47.42 - APC Battery Backup & Surge Protector
    • $269.58 - Microsoft Office Professional Software
    • $169.00 - Adobe Photoshop Upgrade to Photoshop CS2
    • $110.98 - Microsoft Office/FrontPage 2003
    • $ 54.99  - 1 Gb Flash Drive to facilitate moving files.
      • $487(retail) vs $95(student) still needed for Adobe Illustrator
      • Saved $299 by locating freeware to create Adobe .pdf files.
    • Still need to purchase: Anti-Virus program & (maybe) Adobe Illustrator
  • Met with Marketing Committee to discuss various strategies of increasing both our reach and our membership base.
  • Created a HTML Newsletter format.
  • Located free software that performs a daily backup of my hard drive to my portable hard drive.
  • Met with Summersault & began beta testing of new community calendar software.
  • Website Maintenance:  
    • Review and update page links & calendar events, as necessary. Take photos.

Log Analysis
These figures were created by the AWStats program offered online by our web host. 

Monthly figures are now being posted on the Top Twenty page. We are currently averaging 38,632
 user sessions per month.  Web page views (hits) are averaging 118,284.   Users were down 2% in November and 7% in December - a normal occurrence during the holiday time period.  Page views increased by 6% in December after a 6% decrease in November, resulting in a level user pool.

4th Quarter 2005 - Quarterly figures for user sessions increased by 8% over 3rd Quarter.  Page views increased by 2%. User sessions increased by 21% over the same time period last year. 

2005 Yearly Figures show a 14% increase to 463,839 users requesting 1,419,408 pages as compared to 407,300 users requesting 1,157,890 pages in 2004.  This is a 14% increase in users and a 23% increase in page views over 2004
