The Resources for Results committee has presented a plan for reorganization that includes reconfiguring elementary schools to become K-6 buildings, closing Hibberd Middle School and having Test and Dennis serve grades 7-8, and the closing of Parkview Elementary School - along with other additonal changes.

What are your feelings on this issue?

My son goes to the Discovery School.HE came home yesturday in tears. He is worried to death about his school closing. HE NEEDS THIS SCHOOL !!!
IF THE Discovery shool closes, I will be enrolling him in his 3rd school and he is only 9 !! This is just a shame!!!
I don't see how closing schools will help any child. YES, IT MIGHT SAVE MONEY,BUT WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS ?????? AND YES, MOST OF THE SCHOOLS IN RICHMOND LOOK NICE,BUT DOES A NICE BUILDING HELP A CHILD ?????? NO !!!!!!!!!!!
The RCS gave my son a wonderful opportunity and now they're taking it right back !!!! I would never have enrolled him at Discovery knowing that it was going to close !!!!! My idea was not to shift him all over Richmond, it was the exact opposite.
The Discovery school is a wonderful. It's what all kids need !!!!!!! Why don't you try that if you REALLY want to help ALL the kids in Richmond?
There is know peer pressure, there is Know time waisted on a new teacher getting to know THERE CHILDREN every year, And there is know worry of junior high.
I don't see how cramming kids in to fewer schools will help. This is a crock !!!!!!!!
If RCS REALLY WANTS TO HELP,ONLY SENDING CHILDREN TO JR. HIGH UNTIL THE END OF 8TH GRADE, WILL NOT HELP EITHER.THEY ARE STILL TOO YOUNG FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL!!!!! I went to Richmond and got caught up in THE GREAT CHANGES LAST TIME !!!!!
Thanks alot !!!!!!!
I am sure that I am waisting my time. I'm sure that RCS WILL DO WHATEVER THEY CHOOSE !!! THE COMMUNITY NEVER HAS THE SAY SO,AND NEITHER DO THE CHILDREN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If this does take effect, we will be one of many families moving !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU RCS !!!!!!!!!!

I graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1950. From time to time some citizens have objected to the high school name, "Red Devils." How did Richmond - and Morton before Richmond - get the nickname "Red Devils?" It seems to be a very unlikely name for a Quaker community. Using the title "devils" would disturb the older citizens, which may be why it was selected. But then why the color "red?" Could the name go back far enough to be a reference to Native Americans? There are, of course, other "red devils" in the state. (Jeffersonville ? ) What is the source of the name?

Special education.
Does anyone have a child with and IEP and have to go round and round with the school.
My daughter is 8 and attends westview, she has a private tutor we hired 2 years ago that is very expensive, yet she is who taught our child to read not the school. I get so frusterated fighting the school system to get my daughter an education and I am searching for others with the same problem I guess for advice and support and possibly friendship.

Hello i am a student in RCS and i think that all this talk about moving kids is rediculous, because during our shool years the one thing we need to keep ourselves sain is friends and if the kids are moved then i bet over half the kids will loose at least one friend if not more!!!We may loose families from here and is that helping us no just more empty houses around here i sometimes wish i could get out of here because of the way our community has let everything go to waste. Also we need to focus on the teachers they seebecause i think our teachers should know that every student has their problems and if they need help they should get it after all our parents do pay for our education so i think we should be able to get taught the best way possible.

Thanks alot!!!!
