Skating

Wayne County is home to two skating rinks for traditional roller skating as well as a state-of-the art skateboard park. For those who prefer the outdoors, the Cardinal Greenway offers miles of smooth surface for roller skating, roller blading, or roller skiing.

Richmond even has it's own Roller Derby team, The Dire Skates.

Skating has a special place in the history of Wayne County. Micajah C. Henley produced up to 15,000 roller skates per week here in the late 1800's.

Did You Know?

The highest point in Indiana is located in Wayne County, northwest of Bethel. At 1,257 feet, it is known as “Hoosier Hill”, but that title is a bit ironic.
