Photo: Starr Piano in the Gennett MansionThe Starr Piano Company was established in Richmond, Indiana in 1872. The pianos were manufactured under the labels of Cumberland, Duchess, Gennett, Krell, Minum, Tayser, Royal, Pullman, Remington, Richmond, Coronado, Schmoller & Mueller and Starr.

To determine the year your Star Piano Company piano was built, visit your local library to obtain a copy of the Pierce Piano Atlas, 12th Edition (Hard Cover) . In the 10th edition, published in 1997, this information was located on page 326.

Did You Know?

Wilbur Wright, co-inventor of the airplane with his brother, Orville, attended school in Richmond, Indiana. His family moved to Dayton, Ohio in June of 1884 just before he would have received his diploma from Richmond High School. The diploma was awarded to him posthumously on April 16, 1994.
